Kia Ora bloggers, This week the hive have been learning about dialogue. We have learned that there is two different types of speech you can use in writing. they are direct speech and indirect speech. indirect speech is when the author is telling you the story and what the characters are saying. Direct speech is went the characters are speaking in the story.

Here are some examples of direct speech with the independent clause on the start and on the end.

Direct speech

When The school bell ran, the young boy excitedly asked his friend, “Hey, do you want to walk home from school with me?”The young boy asked his friend, “Do you want to come home with me?”

“Hey, did you do the homework?” The young boy asked his friend.
“Yeah I did do it,” the boy replied.

The young boy asked his friend, “Did you do the homework?”
He replied, “Yes I did it.”
